Pedro Lourenço de Távora

  1. First Lord of Mogadouro, member of the regional middle nobility.
  2. Son of Lourenço Pires de Távora and Alda Gonçalves de Morais. Brother of Rui Lourenço de Távora, Estêvão Mendes de Távora, Martim Lourenço de Távora and Fernão Lourenço de Távora.
  3. Married Brites Esteves, daughter of João Esteves de Azambuja, chief provincial governor of Lisbon. [See 7 (c) below.]
  4. Keeper of the King's Wardrobe (Reposteiro-mor) to King João I of Portugal. In this he succeeded his father-in-law, João Esteves de Azambuja, and subsequently was succeeded by his own son, Álvaro Pires de Távora. [See 7 (c) below.]
  5. Accompanied King João I in the siege of Monção, where he was wounded by an arrow. [João2, ch. 134]
  6. Accompanied King João I and his sons in the expedition to Ceuta (1415) as the commander of a galley.
