Gonçalo Teles, Count of Neiva and Faria

  1. Brother of Dona Leonor Teles.
  2. Named as an alternative hostage to be sent to Enrique II of Castile and as guarantor of the conditions agreed in the Treaty of Alcoutim (1371). His brother João Afonso Telo was the other alternative hostage. Their cousin João Afonso Telo de Meneses, the son of the Old Count, João Afonso Telo de Meneses, Count of Barcelos and Ourém, was a confirmed hostage and guarantor.
  3. According to Fernão Lopes, he became Count of Neiva and Faria owing to his sister Leonor's influence as queen. [Fernando, ch. 65: 20-24]
