- Vassal of King Pedro of Castile.
- When in 1366 King Pedro abandoned the city of Burgos to Enrique de Trastámara who had invaded Castile with Aragonese and French support, Íñigo López switched sides, eventually becoming a member of Enrique's council.
- Íñigo López died at the hands of a victorious Pedro of Castile when he surrendered on the battlefield at Nájera (1367).
