  2. Major Galician city and raditional center of pilgrimage with a major cathedral and an archbishop. People came from all over Europe, from far and wide to vist the cathedral and often make a donation to the saint, which means that the cathedral and the archbishop received considerable income.
  3. Nowadays, it is a vibrant city with a modern university, and still a major center of pilgrimage. It is situated in NW Galicia and it is the capital of this autonomous community in modern Spain.
