William Botrieaux

  1. (1337-1391) First Baron of Botrieaux.
  2. One assumes he is the "Lord Botareos" referred to by Fernão Lopes as a member of Edmund Langley, Earl of Cambridge's expedition to Portugal in 1381, as on 8 June of that year he had letters of attorney made before undertaking a journey overseas (TNA C 76/65, m. 1). 
  3. In 1384 he is a commissioner on a judicial mandate of the king (CPR Richard II, vol. 8, p. 499).
  4. The Botrieaux family may have held the manor of Lund, in Yorkshire. (TNA CP 25/1/278/144, nr 9). [TVF]
