Mohammed VI, Red Emir of Granada AH -> RCG

 

  1. (1332-1362) Abu Said, who ruled as Mohammed VI, known as "el Bermejo", on account of his red hair. Tenth emir or sultan of Granada of the Nasrid dynasty.
  2. In 1360 Pedro of Castile was planning to wage war on Mohammed VI because rumour had it that he was an ally of Pedro IV of Aragon. [Pedro, ch. 32: 32-34]
  3. Mohammed VI was overthrown by Mohammed V (1361), who had been overthrown earlier by his half-brother, Ismail II (1359) and the predecessor of Mohammed VI. Fernão Lopes says that Mohammed VI had overthorwn Mohammed V, but that must be due to the very brief reign of Ismail II. [Pedro, ch. 32: 34-35]
  4. Mohammed VI was eventually taken prisoner by Pedro of Castile and beheaded in Seville (1362). [Pedro, ch. 33: 73-83]
