  1. (c. 1362-1435) Son of Maria Teles, sister of Queen Leonor Teles, and of Álvaro Dias de Sousa, Lord of Mafra and Ericeira.
  2. According to Fernão Lopes, he was made Master of the Order of Christ still a child, owing to the influence of his aunt, Queen Leonor Teles. [Fernando, ch. 65: 33-35]
