- Son of Golçalo Pais de Meira and Leonor Rodrigues Leitoa. Brother of Teresa de Meira, one of the ladies-in-waiting to Queen Leonor Teles. The Meira family seems to have been particularly close to the queen and to have enjoyed her favor.
- Helped to defend Barcelos during the 2nd war Guerra Fernandina with Castile (1372-1374), but he was captured, in the event. [Fernando, ch. 78]
