Was captured with over a hundred people from Oporto, when they ran to the assitance of the city of Barcelos as it was being attacked Castilian forces, during the second Guerra Fernandina (1372-1373). Eventually, he was freed after paying 10,000 golden francs in ransom. The following week, however, he was able to recover his ransom money with the freight and merchandise that arrived from Flanders in one of his ships. [Fernando, 78]
