Blanche of Bourbon, Queen of Castile

  1. (1339-1361) Daughter of Pierre, Duke of Bourbon, and Isabelle of Valois.
  2. Married Pedro of Castile in 1353 but, as he was pressurized into a purely political alliance with France, a few days later he abandoned her for María de Padilla. This situation caused much discontent in France and Castile.
  3. Blanche lived imprisoned most of her married life. According to López de Ayala, she was murdered or executed in Medina Sidonia by her husband's orders in 1361. She was 25 years of age.
