Bernard de Béarn

  1. Illegitimate son of Gaston III, Count of Foix, and known as 'the bastard of Béarn'. 
  2. Married Isabel de la Cerda, descendant of Alfonso X of Castile.
  3. One of the first supporters of Enrique de Trastámara in his bid for the Crown of Castile; also one of the first recipients of the future king's grateful largesse, know as 'las mercedes enriqueñas'.
  4. Created Viscount of Medinaceli, 1367, and later elevated to Count.
