Arnaud du Solier, Lord of Villalpando

  1. (1341-1385) Born in Bretagne, Lord of Villalpando. He was also known as 'the Limousin.'
  2. Was a captain of the Great Companies that assisted the Trastámara monarchs to establishing their new dynasty.
  3.  Settled in Castile, became Lord of Villalpando, and was a marshal of the Castilian army at the battle of Aljubarrota, where he was killed on August 14, 1385. 
  4. In the Chronicle of King João I, Part 2, chapter 132, in a second list of combatants on the Castilian side killed at the battle of Aljubarrota, Fernão Lopes seems to interpret his name as belonging to two different Gascons: "Arnao" and "Lemysam".
