- Seeking the best order of narrative: Fernão Lopes justifies the order in which he will follow events as the Duke of Lancaster arrives in the Iberian Peninsula, his dealings with the king of Castile, then with the king of Portugal, etc. He also explains that this is not the order he had originally planned, but eventually came to the conclusion that this was the best. In reality he presents a very clear structure which he proposes to follow. [ João2, ch. 84]
