- Castle of Rocha, South of Pontevedra, Western Galicia.
- This castle was a symbol of the power of the archbishopric of Santiago of Compostela. It was strong, well defended, and the place where the archbishop kept his wealth.
- The castle is situated on the convergence of two rivers, the Sar and the smaller stream of Villar, which offered a privileged position to guard and monitor the pilgrimage route from Portugal, and the southern region of the Iberian Peninsula, to Santiago.
- Pedro of Castile took possession of the archbishopric's wealth after killing Archbishop Suero Gómez de Toledo and his deacon Pero Álvarez (1366). [Pedro, ch. 40: 25-35]
