  1. Territory partly coinciding with Guyenne, which came under Henry II's control when he married Eleanor of Aquitaine.
  2. By virtue of being lords of these territories, the kings of England became also vassals of the King of France, which gave rise to some problematic  diplomatic relations between the two kingdoms.
