Manuel Pessanha, Admiral of Portugal

 

  1. Emanuele Pessagno (or Pezagno), was an able seaman from Genoa, who served King Dinis of Portugal, King Pedro’s grandfather, who made him Admiral of the Portuguese Fleet (1317). (CW)
  2. Once settled in Portugal, his name was adapted to Portuguese. His son Lançarote Pessanha served King Pedro in the same post  as well as Pedro’s son, King Fernando. (CW)
