Fernán Rodríguez Ponce

  1. The reference found in the Crónica de D. Pedro, chapter 17, should read Fernán Pérez Ponce, who had been mentioned earlier in the chapter as Master of Alcántara (1346-1355), brother of Pedro Ponce de León. [Pedro, ch. 17: 43 and 64]
  2. See: Fernán Pérez Ponce.  This is the person who was in charge of the of the Castle of Morón de la Frontera when Enrique, Count of Trastámara, and several Guzmán relatives left Algeciras and joined him there. They were evading Pedro of Castile, the new king, fearful of acts of revenge against them for having family ties with Leonor de Guzmán. [Pedro,  ch. 17: 62-64]

There seems to be some overlap with Fernán Pérez Ponce, Master of the Order of Alcántara, both with close connections with the castle of Morón de la Frontera, which belonged to the Order of Alcántara. [Pedro, ch. 17: 43-44 and 64] Check??
