Fernán Pérez Ponce [de León]

  1. (? -1355) Master of the Order of Alcántara (1346-1355). Son of Fernando Ponce de León y Meneses, Lord of Marchena, and Isabel Pérez de Guzmán, Lady of Chipiona and of Rota. [Diaz Martin, Los Maestros de las Ordenes militares en el reinado de Pedro I] (RCG)
  2. Brother of Pedro Ponce de León "the Elder", Lord of Marchena and a knight of the military Order of the Band.
  3. In chapter 17,  of the Crónica de D. Pedro, he is erroneously identified as Fernán Rodríguez Ponce [Pedro, ch. 17: 64]. It was Fernán Pérez Ponce who  was in the Castle of Morón de la Frontera when Enrique, Count of Trastámara, and several Guzmán relatives left Algeciras and joined him there. They were evading Pedro of Castile, the new king, fearful of acts of revenge against them for being related to Leonor de Guzmán. [Pedro,  ch. 17: 62-64]
