- Cicero, Tully.
- Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC), Roman statesman, orator and writer. [Pedro, Prologue: 80].
- Acknowledged as the father of 'classical Latin', developing the language into a literary elegance, clarity and fluid artistry it did not have before.
- His philosophical works had considerable influence during the medieval period, especially the De Officiis, a treaty on moral obligations, and only the second book to be printed by Johannes Guttenberg (c.1395-1468) after the Bible.
- See 'Túlio'.
