- This location is difficult to identify. It could be near Barcelos or Montemor-o-Velho. Perhaps this passage in João1, ch. 32 refers to the Pereira near Montemor-o-Velho, as this castle was one of the largest and most strategic in Portugal allowing for a large concentration of troops, hence Gonçalo Pereira's opportunity, or need, to give sixty horses to his close relatives.
- Montemor-o-Velho is also closer to Bonjardim, where several generations of Pereiras had the office of Prior of the Hospitalers.
